Amarok 2.4 "Slipstream" Veröffentlicht

Es war ein stressiges Jahresende für die Amarok Programmierer, für manche im eisigen Winter, für andere in der glühenden Sonne. Die meisten Entwicklungsstränge wurden zusammengeführt, eine Menge neue Features wurden eingebaut. Eine Major Version ist immer ein großer Schritt nach vorn und wir sind stolz, euch Amarok 2.4 präsentieren zu können, Codename Slipstream.

Diese Version bietet Verbesserungen in Geschwindigkeit, Benutzerfreundlichkeit und Stabilität: Die meisten Bugs die mit der Kontext-Ansicht zu tun haben, wurden behoben, ein komplett neu programmierter Sammlungs-Scanner ist enthalten (Hinweis: Das ist das Ding, das die Tags eurer Musik-Dateien einliest) -- Amarok kann damit jetzt Statistiken und Cover direkt in die Musikdateien schreiben, so dass sie damit auch system- und playerübergreifend in den Dateien enthalten bleiben. Außerdem gibt es auch wieder die Möglichkeit, die Menüleiste zu verstecken.
Wo wir gerade von Tags sprechen: Der neue Sammlungs-Scanner bringt noch ein neues Feature mit, und zwar die Integration der MusicBrainz Bibliothek, um die Kontextinfos eurer Musik zu vervollständigen. Damit war es noch nie so leicht, eine gut organisierte Musiksammlung zu erzeugen, da man mit nur 2 Klicks festlegen kann, was getaggt werden soll und was nicht. Unglücklicherweise mussten wir die Playdar Sammlung wieder entfernen, die wir in Beta 1 integriert hatten. Sobald wir ein paar Änderungen daran vorgenommen haben, können wir sie hoffentlich wieder einbinden.

Hier die wichtigsten neuen Features im Überblick:

• Unterstützung des iPod Touch 3G (und möglicherweise neuer)
• Transcoding: Lieder können jetzt direkt beim Kopieren in die lokale Sammlung von einem Dateiformat in ein anderes umgewandelt werden. Wir werden diese Funktion in den nächsten Versionen auch auf mobile Medien erweitern.
• Ein neues Applet für Gitarren- und Bassgriffe.
• OPML export für Podcasts.
• Eine Karten- und Kalenderansicht für das "Kommende Events"-Applet
• Unterstützung für UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) Sammlungen, du kannst jetzt also Musik von UPnP Servern im lokalen Netzwerk hören.

Außerdem gibt es noch viele Features, Verbesserungen und unzählige Bugfixes. Wie immer sind alle diese im Changelog vermerkt, damit du nichts verpasst.
