LinuxTag 2007 / Cocktail Contest

Amarok at LinuxTag 2007 in Berlin

We are proud to announce that the Amarok project will be present at LinuxTag 2007 with a booth, a talk and also a workshop. At the booth you can ask all the questions you ever wanted to ask and see the current stable and development versions in action. We will also have some cool Amarok shirts to sell there. The talk by Sven will be about Amarok in general: see our best features and learn about our community. Harald's workshop finally will show you the beautiful world of DCOP (D-Bus in 2.0) and enable you to control Amarok in your scripts.

Sounds interesting, but you don't have the money for the tickets? No problem: send us your favourite cocktail receipes, give them funky names and get free entrance to LinuxTag. We have 20 (!) tickets to give away to the best cocktail creators in our community who inspire us (without killing a developer with their drinks). You have until next Wednesday, May 16th to finalise your mix. To enter, add your recipe to the comments below (make sure you add a valid email address).

Linux Tag Cocktail

My favorite cocktail is maybe plain, but very tasty, that's why i'm gonna post it, even if i'll loose the contest:

You need:
- 5 frozen strawberries
- 5cl lime juice
- 3cl lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- cracked ice
- whipped cream
- coconut flakes
- half orange slice
- 1 straw
- 1 cocktail umbrella

Add the strawberries, lime juice, lemon juice and the suger into a blender (besides the cracked ice) and blend them until you get a creamy liquid. You may, but musn't, add some strawberry syrup here. Put the cracked ice into a cocktail glass with a belly and pour the blended liquid into the glass. put some whipped cream on the top and spread some coconut flakes over the whipped cream. dress with the orange slice, the straw and the umbrella. Enjoy!

The obligatory

Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit.
Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V.
Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzene is lost).
Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it (in memory of all those happy Hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia).
Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones; subtle, sweet, and mystic.
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian suns deep into the heart of the drink.
Sprinkle Zamphour.
Add an olive.
Drink... but... very carefully...

PS : can't go to the Linux Tag anyway so save the ticket ;)

Sorry... but there's no way to tell anyone else....

Hi, I'm sure you probably have nothing to do with the registrations on the forum, but activation emails aren't being sent. I says that an error has occurred and the the email has been sent. I've tried 4 different email addresses and none get an email. That seems to me that there's an error. However for the forum there's noone listed to contact. So that leaves me to contact someone about it and see if there's anything that they can do. So uhh... can ya help?

Thanks, Bryce

P.S. I'd have gone on IRC but it's blocked on my college campus.

Don't forget to leave an e-mail address...

...if you don't I will have a hard time getting in contact with the winners to give them the tickets.

Amarok - The real "Easy Listening" Cocktails

Here is what we came up with (actually my brother who is lead designer in cocktail engineering)
He created three cocktails which consist of body and hat (yes it's a red hat)
The hat is the same for all cocktails
hat:
Take 25dag frozen strawberry, put them in a strong mixer and cover them with vodka. If you like it sweet add 2-3 spoons of sugar. Mix them.

three different body flavors:
First on with cocos and pineapple taste:
"RepeatRepeat"
3 cl Cocos Syrup
10 cl Pineapple Juice
4 cl White Rum

Second with banana and pineapple:
"Easy Listening"
4 cl White Rum
1 cl Triple Sec.
2 cl Bols Banana
10 cl Pineapple Juice

Third with banana and mango:
"Rediscovery"
6 cl Pisang Ambon
2 cl Bols Blue
6 cl Mango Juice
4 cl Orange Juice

After mixing the ingredients for the body put them in a glass and pure the hat slow and carefully on top of it.
They all tasted great. The second ("Rediscovery") and the third("Easy Listening") are our favorites. The order and the intensive testing has nothing to do with this decision.
Unfortunately the pictures we took got lost due to crappy mobile phone software.
So - Try them!

Greetings from Vienna - Hope to see you at Linuxtag
Richard
