also have a look at
  • 100% width top (differs navigation from content)
  • iconbased navigation as part of the top
  • ~80% width three word navigation(tm - lost link^^) for instat access to get started, to information a user could need e.g. how to get mp3 support (= new FAQ) and how to join the team
  • bottom shouldn't be different from content -> looks smarter, and one notices the bottom anyway (less content, links to login etc. etc.)

pages

main page

  • links should at least be icon supported (usability++)
  • link to forums
  • link to blog
  • link to download page
  • link to screenshots (really important for potential new users)
  • link to sitemap
  • (include) news
  • include a very smart introduction, a screenie (shiny one) and some hot features ... this is meant to get users to want more information
  • content should have lot of links to content within the wiki, so it acts as basic navigation, but also forces the user to read some more information if he/she visits the first time

news

  • best to be somehow directly included on main page
  • always lists latest 2-3 news
  • older news get their own page in News: namespace
  • link to page with link to all past news has to be at the main news page

sitemap

  • basically the current main page
  • links to everything including the links @ main page and main page itself
  • needs clear and easy to use layout

download

  • packages and information for major distros have to be easy accessible

faq

  • needs an all new layout - maybe introduce FAQ: namespace and link to the various pages

namespaces

News

includes all news (past and maybe also current)

News Resource

meant to collect sites where new Amarok version have been announced/reviewed - basically an enhanced version of the web resources page

FAQ

could be used for all faq entries

Pre

only necassary if mediawiki doesn't get a revision system somewhat soon, in this case the namespace could be used to prepare pages for new major releases, such as prepare download page so that one just has to move it into main namespace at release

Download

used for enhanced download information, as available for debian
