From Amarok Wiki
Getting Amarok ready with mp3 support is quite easy and requires basically the same procedure on all versions of SUSE Linux/openSUSE.
- Add Packman as an installation source:
Add http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/packman/suse/10.2 to YaST2's installation sources.
For how to do that, have a look at the openSUSE wiki.
A list of mirrors for the Packman repository is available here: ftp://packman.links2linux.org/pub/packman/MIRRORS.
- Install libxine1 and amarok-xine:
Open install/upgrade software in YaST2 and search for libxine1 and amarok-xine. Then install them.
- Use xine engine in Amarok:
Start Amarok, go to Settings -> Configure Amarok -> Engine. There you select xine.
To enable Musicbrainz tags for mp3 and mp4v2 files:
- Add Guru as an installation source:
Add http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.2 to YaST2's installation sources.
For how to do that, have a look at the openSUSE wiki.
- Install libtunepimp-mad and libtunepimp-faad2:
Open install/upgrade software in YaST2 and search for libtunepimp-mad and libtunepimp-faad2. Then install them.
Note that this will require mad and faad2 from the Packman repository, so make sure you have added the Packman repository to your list of installation sources before (see above).
That's all, have fun with Amarok. :-)
