Almost 5k songs. All FLAC ripped from my CDs with the exception of a few hundred of MP3s I got from emusic. Thanks to Amarok it's a piece of cake to manage all that!

7,300+ tracks. All mine -- I have the original CDs to back up that claim. Sadly, thats a lot of money over the years. I purchased my 1st 4 CD's from Tower Records for over $100.00 US back in late 1983 (more than $25 a piece at that time; my wife still reminds me that the same ones I bought then are $8.99 today at Costco). Sure, there MAY be a lot of pirated material in the high counts seen here, but I'm sure there are many like me who have spent hours ripping their own collections.

hmm... I have 54900 tracks atm, all legal, either ripped from my own CDs (still a lot more to rip, I'm working on it), or legally purchased and downloaded, or free from the beginning (demos, podcasts, stand-up comedy stuff). I haven't got a single pirated thing on my 900Gb drive array, and yet it's almost full. You can enjoy culture/media/software without having to resort to piracy, you know...

In my country (New Zealand) it was made legal recently to rip tracks of a non-free CD IF AND ONLY IF no downloadable version is available.
We're allowed backup/archival copies of CDs, I think, and I also think that we're allowed to keep the backup copy in our car - and still play the real one inside the house.
But we've never been allowed to change the format. To all intents and purposes, we're still not. So, in New Zealand, buying a CD doesn't give you a license to rip the tracks off of it :(.. It's counter intuitive, and we all do it regardless....
Did someone specify that the text colour in this textarea should be black, and forget to specify a background colour? Cause I'm typing black on black, it's not vwery pleasant. Please excuse any typos.

My collection is not that big, but I know and like every song in it. I did a massive cleanup in my library about a year back, because I realized that a lot of the music really didn't do anything for me.
An added bonus is that the whole library now fits on a 30gb disk.

My 20000+ songs almost pass what I consider the acid test --- being able to tolerate a random playlist built from the entire collection. It is all too common for folks to go nuts and amass a ridiculously large collection of songs they would never listen to, just for bragging rights. My collection's weakness? 20 years of Billboard Top 100. Must of that stuff basically sucks!

About 8,000 tracks in my collection. Then there's about 20,000 tracks floating around everywhere on my hard disks that I still need to sort out, organize and put in my collection. Most of the collection consists of ripped CD's. Unfortunately everything is in MP3 and I don't quite feel like ripping everything in OGG or flac, hehe.

Well, I'm one with 20000+, but that number is a bit special, I admit: Many of the tracks are classical music, baroque and renaissance pieces in particular, which are usually quite short. Hence, there are about much more tracks per hour than for other forms of music.

Would you say that 'classical' tracks are generally shorter? Symphonic movements are ~20-30 mins, and I though the average 'pop' track was ~3 mins. I suppose it varies a lot.
