Remember last year? We asked you to send us your best cocktail recipes to win free entrance to LinuxTag in Berlin. It seems all our developers survived trying your creations and we are pretty sure some of you tested them, too. So, a year has passed, the next LinuxTag is going to start in less than two weeks and we again have some eTickets to give away! 15 tickets to be precise and maybe, if you work hard, we might get some more.
This time send us your best "Amarok Everywhere" photos. Talk to the Klingon High Council about their boring logo, use your "laser" to project a howling wolf onto the moon or... do whatever crazy idea comes to your mind. But beware: starting a war with the Klingon Empire leads to instant disqualification. You can send the pictures to our promo mailing list (amarok-promo 'ätt' kde.org) or give us a link to them in the comments (make sure you add a valid email address). Deadline is Wednesday, 21st May, 0:00 UTC.
As last year we will have a booth and talk there, so it's the perfect opportunity to have a look at our latest developments.

WHEN?? WHEN?? WHEN??? WHEN
WHEN?? WHEN?? WHEN??? WHEN WILL AMAROK 2 BE COMPLETE?? WHEN WILL YOU RELEASE IT?? WE'VE WAITED VERY MUCH TIME!!!!!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?? EH?? I NEED AMAROK 2 MY PC, I CAN'T USE MORE WINDOWS WIHOUT IT!!! PLEASE RELESE IT QUICKLY!!!!
Take it easy..
dont
why release it for windows?amarok is a very good reason to use linux.you should not release it for windows.i know that this way open source is being used by more people and it is auto-advertised but i dont think this is working the way it should be with amarok.
with amarok, gimp, open office, firefox, scribus, inkscape you just give the windows users a good reason not to change to linux.you give them breathing inside the shit.
i mean what is next?kde for windows?
Kde for windows
Actually, if you browse through kde.org you'll find that it's already in the works :-)
Besides, I think that availability of open source applications helps to even the grounds between linux and windows, making an eventual switch of platform a less painfull choice for the individual user.
Amarok on Windows
I am sorry, but I don't buy that line of reasoning. In fact, I think it works quite the opposite way of what you think. People will switch if they can use the same tried and true apps anywhere. There as a huge discussion about this a year ago, which was kind of kicked of by this blog post: http://amarok.kde.org/blog/archives/429-Amarok-2-on-windows-A-rant.html
