Amarok 2 on Windows - Reloaded

My last blog about Amarok 2 on Windows had been a long while ago, but I'm happy to report that we have some news. Pau Garcia i Quiles committed a number of compile fixes, and it's now possible to build Amarok 2 with MSVC, and to actually run it!

Yesterday I stayed up until 4:30 AM while trying to fix Amarok to work on Windows, and when I got it to build it was so late I was too tired to test it. So I fired it up this morning and this is the result. I have tested and it plays MP3, WMA, APE and whatever Magnatune streams on. Built with Visual C++ 2008.

I would like to emphasize that this is an ALPHA version. We know it still looks a bit ugly, but this will improve soon.

Hi Mark I think the vertical tabs look should be improved (on Linux too). Just my 2 cents. Is there way to propose a design with mockups?

They are SVGs, you could 'propose' a design with the finished product. We are looking for better tabs, so it'd be appreciated.

Just open up in your Inkscape:
amarok/src/images/default-theme.svg

Is there not a way to use the default tab style? With oxygen's tab style on linux, it would look much better imo.

Thanks for your work all the people that helped get Amarok on windows, soon I'll have an audio player to recommend to people on windows.

Nice, but i like the look on ubuntu better (amarok-nightly).
The white space is a pitty.
And why don't u use a bigger button for play/pause in the center?

Yeah, if it will run on windows i'll recommend all my friends who uses this os to switch player to Amarok.

Gr8 news! i have already downloaded it with KDE on Windows project (I use win @ work ¬¬) but didnt run.

this thing u made will be a stand-alone software or would i have to download something like KDEonWindows?
