Hello!
First I'd like to say that this is for sure a great project and I'm happy it got selected by google.. but according to this text the Device Detection is again going into amarok itself... should'nt it be in solid.. or did I understand something not correct? Best regards Bernhard
Device detection is already handled inside Amarok via Solid. But once the devices are detected, the plugins that use them are not yet working...

Does this mean... play streaming direct from device? (without for example going through a 3rd party like njstream). This would be a killer feature for those of use with supported media devices.
Yes.
For most devices it would probably involve writing song data out to a temporary file, and having the engine play that temporary file. Just as a limitation of many devices. However, the idea would be to make playback seamless, or with as minimal of a pause/gap/etc as possible. So you could treat your device's tracks like normal ones for the purpose of playback. |
