Yes, this is great. Cool!
I much prefer Jinzora over Ampache though: http://en.jinzora.com/ Been using it for over a year now, almost daily...it's fantastic. How about a collab with the Jinzora guys as well? That would be awesome!!
To be honest, I had never heard about Jinzora before.
It seems that they already have an API (http://en.jinzora.com/development/jinzora_api) for this sort of thing, so all that is needed is for someone to step up and do the service ( I don't think I will do any more for the 2.0 release at least ) It should be a fairly simple task as 90% of the code from the Ampache service can be reused and it is just the format of the messages and replies that differ. So if anybody out there is interested in doing this, here is your chance!
This new playlist is very nice, but will it be easily themeble?
I didn't liked very much the colors, but the features are really very nice. obs: Sorry if the comment is not related with the ampache, trough this is very nice stuff too
Well, that is what i have been promised, so... i am one of those people who like the whole reductionist thing, you see, so it's something i've been poking the squad about a considerable amount
Well the colors come from the color scheme.
We do plan on having it configurable (as far as deciding what is shown).
Yaaaaay!!!
I've been nagging the amarok team for a long time to get a music server integrated into amarok. Because of the lack of that feature, I'm currently using MusicPD instead of amarok... with a crappy command-line client. So if your post means I'll soon be able to listen music from my server through amarok, then Yay!!
That is exactly what it means. All the music you see in the screenshot is located on an Ampache server
Amarok already support DAAP shares (eg mt-daapd/Firefly servers).
The new collection and service framework will allow us to better integrate DAAP servers as well as Ampache.
This is really cool news!
I was just thinking about this the other day as a matter of fact. Along with that thought was the inclusion of video features of Kaffeine as both can share the xine back end. I had not gone exploring yet to discover if there were any cross project development plans, so this is welcomed News for Sure. (i am not a coder so I just don't know the lingo, logistics, of the programing languages between projects, so...) Maybe it is a crazy dream, but since Kaffeine lacked a collection engine and Amarok the whole video end their might be some plans to share parts or services collaboratively - and all on top with the Help of Ampache! How cool would that be? - I know it is a crazy dream.
Amarok 2 and Kaffeine4 will both use the Phonon multimedia library.
But we can't really share database collection code, our code is probably pretty coupled to what Amarok is doing.
If you have quite big databse jinzora is very (very) slow, ampache ist 10(000) times faster
Vollmer said something about having users who have music collections measured in terabytes, so that doesn't surprise me.
(I think the largest Amarok collection we've heard of is more like a half-terabyte).
Umm How?
I browsed the wiki page on Bounty source, how do i go about installing ampache and getting it to play nice with my existing amarok library? by the way, Amarok kicks ass.
So far these changes are only available in the svn version of both Ampache and Amarok. You wil have to wait for the next release of Ampache and Amarok2 unless you want to build everything from source ( Note that Amarok2 is not really ready for everyday use just yet )
