So I've finished a basic implementation of a DAAP server in Ruby this morning. Hooray! I haven't gotten any where with it for some time due to a frustrating problem. I had been overlooking that not all numbers in DAAP are 4 bytes wide, so I just fixed that and it worked. The server is really slow to initialize, so I think fixing that issue is my next step...
Last night, my flatmate Alex said "What was that - a bat or a bird?" I didn't see anything. However a few minutes later something fluttered through the living room ("Aaargh!" was my response). That was our first introduction to our new friend Nickie. We weren't sure she was a bat until the following morning. Right outside our apartment door in the hallway was Nickie, hanging around.
Crystal and Sam also have a new neighbor, Jackie. Apparently she was fluttering around their apartment last night as well and she's now hanging inside the front door of their apartment building. The bats are getting out and enjoying the weather as well here in Kirksville.

I'm happy to announce that a new version of the Ruby IRC bot has been released. RBot is an awesome project I've joined recently, combining the two best things in the world: Ruby and IRC. The project was started 4 years ago by the Botfather,
Tom Gilbert, and has recently picked up on popularity, due to its great plugin system and flexibility. Come join us sometime on #rbot (freenode) and check out the 0.9.10 release here:
