Err.. That app looks pretty average compared to k3b, to be honest. Besides the "shine" background, it looks a bit cramped compared to K3B and looks a bit gimp-ish in layout.
Still, nice to have nice software for free.
I'm not really a Gnome user (I just switch between KDE/Gnome/XFCe every now and then) but perhaps this is the 'K3B gnome alternative'... just like Banshee is the amaroK alternative and like many more application. I don't really know how well gnomebaker and graveman are but if they're just as 'light' as the rest of Gnome this application might well be really useful for Gnome users.
I know they can just use KDE apps with Gnome but since there isn't a way to theme QT apps to the Gnome style and the KDE libs (and QT) are required it's still as nicely integrated as a Gnome app would be.
"there isn't a way to theme QT apps to the Gnome style"
Why not? You can use QtCurve, for example - it comes for KDE, GTK 1 and GTK 2.
Addition:
Talking about cloning applications: http://www.exaile.org/ ...but you probaly already knew that.
Actually, Opera was never really a "FireFox killer". Opera was there first. You'd be better off saying "FireFox killed Opera", even though Opera is as alive as ever.
Plus, IE was the one that was really doing the killing among browsers.
I agree about the Opera bit. I was originally an Opera user when my friends all got crazy over firefox (or phoenix, or whatever it was originally called, I forget now). At the time I ragged them about how they were bragging about a browser whose main innovations were copying Opera's best ideas.
Now I mainly use Firefox for various reasons, but I remember the roots. |
