could you perhaps store the 2nd copy in a diff/patch setup, that way all of the meta info (provided its stored as tags within the file) would be maintained and also any extra bits before or after the track (like silence), the only thing left to worry about is that alot of cd's that have the same tracks wouldn't have the exact same binary data for the tracks
Since this is something I really would like in AmaroK, here's my idea: why not having a text file acting as a music file for AmaroK. The text file could look the same as a kde config file, something like
[Music File Link] File=/path where the actual music file is Album=the new album title Track=the new track number Year=... If AmaroK recognizes these files as music, it could use it like an ordinary music file, and it could be displayed in the context browser (and perhaps optionally in the playlist). Off course there should be special actions when you play these files (I don't have any idea how difficult it would be to let the engine play another file than the current song) or when you delete a file that's linked, and when the music file doesn't exist, but that's obvious off course... |
